DJ Mike's Party Planning Tips

Special Message

Clients who are the happiest with their music & entertainment are those who communicate easily with their Disc Jockey. You should feel comfortable talking with the Disc Jockey about any number of things, from your own musical tastes to your entertainment budget. A congenial personality is essential to warming up the crowd to dance. Another issue that you will want to consider is how much you would like the Disc Jockey to say at your event. The entertainer should act as the emcee, who verbally directs & guides the crowd. You should also discuss exactly what music you would like to hear. Different entertainers handle the choice of songs in a variety of ways. Unlike a band, most Disc Jockeys will not need to take breaks.

Once you contract your Disc Jockey, you will need to create a schedule. This schedule is essential to keep the entertainers, caterers, and the entire party working together. Beginning with the arrival of the first guests, listing each event and an approximate time. The emcee will also need to know important details about the party. For example, will the courses of the meal be separted by dancing, or will the dancing take place entirely after the meal? This schedule will be used only as a guideline for the course of events, but having such a guideline is important to the flow of your party celebration.

Many entertainers don't like a schedule that is too "choppy"... constantly subject to brief interruptions... because this makes it difficult to keep the party in motion, and to keep guests involved. The Disc Jockey will have lots of advice about how to best arrange this schedule to keep all events flowing smoothly. As with all of your party professionals, it is a good idea to call or be in contact with your Disc Jockey at least one week before the event to reconfirm the final details.

On the date of the event, there should be nothing for you to do but enjoy every moment of the music, and dance every dance!
